In our modern education system, graphing calculators have become an essential tool for plotting graphs and assisting in understanding the visual applications of mathematics. Using physical calculators in this increasingly digital era is becoming an obsolete trend. Several companies are struggling hard to resolve the issue by introducing apps and software which could provide excellence and performance of physical graphing calculators while at the same time being a cheap alternative. Mathlab Apps LLC has also taken a step in this revolutionary age and has introduced its very own graphing calculator app. This app has hit the market costing only $5.99 for a PRO version which is ads free and works offline. The FREE version is also available but it contains ads and requires Internet connection to operate. It could be downloaded here:

This article is comprised of a brief review of Graphing Calculator app by Mathlab. This app mainly features as a scientific calculator with a graph plotter and additionally a table making tool. Almost all kinds of mathematical operators, which are being used in high school algebra, have been implemented in the app.

This incredible app has three modes of operation

-              Calculator

-              Graphing mode

-              Tables

Every mode is its own separate workspaces, allowing you to work on multiple problems at a time, or see the same problem in 3 ways.

The calculator mode provides solutions to formulas containing any sort of mathematical operator given in this app. Most common operators include trigonometric functions, logarithmic functions, factorials, combinations and permutations, percentage, exponential functions, absolute value, root functions etc.

There are three different keyboards that this app utilizes; one with numerals and a list of operators, the other with Greek symbols and the third with the regular Latin alphabet.  Users can also insert a symbol from a comprehensive set of symbols. The keyboard can also be hidden by tapping ‘hide keyboard’ button on the screen.

The graph of any trigonometric, algebraic, exponential function etc. can be plotted by simply providing an equation in x and y variables. Users can also plot multiple equations on a single workspace. Every graph has a different color to distinguish itself.

A comparison of several values of a variable, say y, can also be made by making tables for different formulae in x (say).

It is very likely that Mathlab will introduce an iPhone version of the app as well. In a nutshell, this is a great app with a low price. You should try it out.
